Banned Books Week is September 26th-October 2nd. The theme for the 2021 celebration of the right to read: “Books Unite Us. Censorship Divides Us.” To promote awareness and celebrate our freedom to read, we will be hosting a digital escape room! Successfully escape for a chance to win a prize! The library will also be sharing censorship statistics from the American Library Association and banned books that are available for check out in our library. On the Ridgecrest campus? Various banned book trivia will be posted in the student center and east wing. Know the answer? Claim a treat at the library circulation desk! A step-by-step demonstration on how to apply to Cerro Coso Community College. An Admissions & Records Technician will be available to answer questions, provide guidance, and share best practices. A Financial Aid Technician will review the Cerro Coso Promise scholarships, outside scholarships, and more! The Cerro Coso Promise is a scholarship intended for dedicated students that deserve an education, regardless of financial or personal status. By meeting basic criteria, students may qualify for up to $1,000 per semester for 2 years to help with tuition, books, and fees. Register for the Workshop on August 18
